In Chapter 8 of “Chiragh ki Lau,” the protagonist finds himself immersed in the encroaching darkness of the evening. As the world before him blurs into obscurity, he gazes at the unpainted walls, which seem to absorb the blackness and solitude of the night. Amidst this eerie silence, he waits for his father, who is late returning from work.
Anxious and frustrated, the protagonist wonders where his father could be and contemplates the fear of being alone at home. His emotions well up, yet he cannot find the strength to cry. In his vulnerable state, he begins to perceive the inanimate objects around him as if they have come to life, draped in white garments, resembling the attire his late mother used to wear.
